60 Second Recap [http://www.60secondrecap.com/]

Literature teachers today need to incorporate the use of videos, images and sounds in order to engage visual learners to appreciate the beauty of English Literature. Therefore, it is essential that Literature teachers make their lessons fun and interesting for the students.

This website, 60 Second Recap, is a great supplementary tool for Literature teachers as it offers recaps for a collection of books such as "Animal Farm", "Romeo and Juliet", "Macbeth" and "The Scarlet Letter". In each book, there will be recaps in the form of :
1. Overview
2. Context
3. Plot
4. Themes
5. Motifs
6. Symbols
7. Conclusion

These recaps are short and simple, which makes it easy for the students to understand. The teacher can use these recaps at different stages, or even play the recaps altogether after he/she has finished analysing the text with the students. Students would find these short recaps interesting and useful when they are revising for the text.

I believe incorporating the use of videos and images would make Literature fun and engaging for the students.

  1. As majority of the students are visual learners these days, this website serves as a good tool for us to bring in multi-modal text to engage with our students. I like the videos in this website as they are clear and simple to understand. It can be a good tool either for teachers to introduce the lesson or to wrap up the lesson. The only limitation is that this website only contains limited narratives.
